member subscribers throughout the world, Formational Ventures provides unique
access to its distinguished network of accomplished professionals who seek to
participate in high-growth investment opportunities in new venture companies.
A
New Way To Invest
 Formational Ventures was established in October, 1999 with
the intent to serve a growing but exclusive set of members.
As such, we are a service company that is dedicated to its members and
passionate about building new companies.
Individual investors who do not have special relationships with
investment banks or venture capital funds remain "locked-out" from
participating in the building of new businesses before these businesses become
public companies via initial public offerings.
Often, substantial value is created by private companies who themselves
are purchased by public companies, providing substantial returns to their
investors. Our founders recognized the value of building a global
community of accomplished and accredited investors who seek to participate in
the creation of new businesses while simultaneously helping entrepreneurs
build lasting value. We are
dedicated to our member subscribers as we continue to provide them
information, executive access and the ability to conveniently invest in a
variety of exciting companies in a variety of high-growth industries.
Rapid
Growth
Formational
Ventures continues to grow its members and investments.
Our members invested in nine private offerings during 2000.
These investments were made in new software companies, Internet
infrastructure companies, network equipment and communications companies,
mobile communications and data networking companies.
Formational's managers have invested in the beginnings of private companies
that have rapidly grown to become public entities or have been acquired by
large, public companies for sizable returns.
Network Members
Formational
Ventures members comprise a formidable network of highly successful business
executives, entrepreneurs and technologists.
These accomplished, connected individuals often operate companies,
begin new ventures and develop new technologies for both large successful
enterprises and new ventures alike. Our
members live and work all over the world, including Melbourne and Sydney,
Singapore and Hong Kong, China and Japan, California and New York, and London
and Dublin.
Our
members have outstanding track-records of creating value and scaling
companies. Collectively, our
members have more than 1,200 years of experience and have experienced rapid,
explosive growth and inital public offerings at dozens of companies.
Occassionally,
our members begin new ventures themselves or work with other entreprenuers to
help begin and grow new business. In
some instances, Formational members may have the opportunity to invest in
large and small ventures established by fellow FV members.
Our
members occasionally contact one another in order to discuss new business
ideas or investments or to learn about emerging growth industries and
investment opportunities.
Selectivity
We
understand that our two most important assets are our reputation the quality
of our members. We recognize that
the value we offer our members is realized in both the investment
opportunities that we identify as well as well as the quality of the persons
who comprise our membership. As
such, we remain selective about the companies that represent investment
opportunities that we identify and publish to our member subscribers. Likewise, we remain selective about who may participate as a
Formational Ventures member.
Each
individual candidate is invited by a Formational Ventures sponsor to join our
outstanding network of exceptional individuals. Together, every Formational Ventures member subscriber in
some way helps one another by identifying potentially new companies to invest
in, by introducing new business relationships or through their investments in
new ventures that move businesses forward, creating profitable enterprises
that someday may change the world.
Access
Formational
Ventures members receive access to professionals leading a number of
early-stage and later-stage private companies in a variety of emerging,
high-growth industries. These
professionals include executives operating these growth-oriented companies,
technologists who help shape the cutting-edge of innovation in Silicon Valley,
and other venture investors who have broad views of emerging markets and new
investment opportunities.
We
offer our members convenient on-line investment portfolio management, the
legal and accounting infrastructure and framework to participate in venture
investments, selective access to our membership and a secure place to
introduce new investment opportunities to our management for consideration.
We also serve other venture investment companies who seek access to
early-stage investments, and Formational's due-diligence expertise.
Formational
Ventures managers continuously identify, interview and evaluate executive
entrepreneurs at private companies that seek venture investments.
Our standards are high and therefore most opportunities do not
measure-up. We proceed with only
those exceptional opportunities that have the ability to successfully grow a
new business to a valuable corporation. We
then negotiate with the entrepreneur and/or other venture or investment bank
representatives on securing a portion of investment and a price per share in
the business. We constantly work with other venture investors in Silicon
Valley to keep constant up-to-date knowledge about corporate valuations in
order to negotiate good deals for our investors.
Investors
